A Bloomfield High School football star remains behind bars on $1 million bond.

Tarence Mitchell, 18, is charged with murder. Bloomfield police said he admitted to stabbing Ronald Taylor, 27, to death with a steak knife. According to the police report, Mitchell stated that he and Taylor had developed a sexual relationship, and that he feared for his own safety when he tried to distance himself from Taylor.

“He deserves to be home where he can understand what he did and get some type of counseling instead of being in a jail cell going crazy,” Summer Forbes, Mitchell’s cousin, said.

Mitchell’s next court appearance is scheduled for next Tuesday when his attorney will try to get Mitchell’s bond reduced.
