Destoryed By Arson Two Years Ago, Curling Is Back In Norfolk

Two years ago arson destroyed the Norfolk Curling Club. But, like their motto states, “From Fire to Ice,” the club has returned better than ever.

The new building is up just in time. They reopened in late November, in time for their annual Bonspiel, a curling tournament with 20 teams and 80 competitors from all over the northeast.

As photojournalist Freddie Matthis found out, the cliche “just getting a chance to compete” never rang truer. The club has men’s and mixed leagues starting in early December. Visit for further information.
