The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights has announced that it will investigate the Title IX complaint filed in October by former and current UConn students.

The students claim the university did not protect them from sexual assault, did not provide them with needed services after they were assaulted and treated them with indifference.

In a letter to UConn President Susan Herbst dated Dec. 6, Kate Upatham of the federal office, wrote that the decision to investigate the case, “in no way implies that OCR has made a determination with regard to its merits.”
