NEW HAVEN — Police are looking for a woman who they believe may have information about the telephone call that led to a campus-wide lockdown and search just before Thanksgiving.

At 9:48 a.m. on Nov. 25, an anonymous person called police from a phone booth on Columbus Avenue and reported that his roommate was headed to campus with a gun to shoot people, police said.

Officials spent the rest of the day combing through campus — focusing especially on the Old Campus area near the New Haven green — and eventually said they believed the call was a prank.

Police have been investigating since then, with assistance from the FBI and Yale Police, according to a release from New Haven police.

They believe an unidentified woman might be able to help the investigation.

They have also been talking to a person who is in custody after being arrested for two outstanding warrants, but they have not charged that person with anything related to the Yale case. That person’s identity was not released.

Hundreds of leads have been followed and several suspects have been cleared, the release states.

Anyone with information about the identity of the woman should call New Haven Police detectives at 203-946-6304, the release states.
