MONTVILLE— A Massachusetts man who was driving a tour bus that struck and killed a pedestrian near the Mohegan Sun casino last year was charged last week with negligent homicide.
According to court records, Lin Qi Si, 39, of Braintree, was arrested on Dec. 3 – almost one year to the day after the fatal accident.
Si was charged with negligent homicide with a commercial motor vehicle, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a fine of $2,500, and failure to yield to a pedestrian.
The accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Dec. 5, 2012, according to state police. Pui Yi Li, 62, of Elmhurst, N.Y., was attempting to cross the road in front of the Mohegan Tribal Public Safety Building when she was struck by a commercial bus driven by Si.
Li sustained “catastrophic facial and head injury,” state police said. She was rushed to William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich where she later died.
Si was operating the bus for Tribal Sun Bus Company, a private company based in Rockland, Mass.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 19, according to court records.
