HARTFORD — The Hartford archdiocese’s new archbishop, the Most Rev. Leonard Paul Blair, cited three M’s — memory, mission and ministry — as guiding principles while speaking to the more than 2,000 worshippers who attended his Mass of Installation on Monday afternoon at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

When touching on memory, the archbishop reminded the crowd that he couldn’t help but feel a tremendous sense of history while standing in the cathedral – considering all those who have gone before him, especially his predecessor, Archbishop Henry Joseph Mansell.

Blair noted that becoming the fifth archbishop of Hartford represents a monumental change in his life. But he brings with him fond memories of his parents and grandparents, and the priests and nuns of his home parish, along with many others.
