BRIDGEPORT — A 21-year-old man was shot to death early Monday.
DeWayne Gardner, of Bridgeport, was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Hospital.
Police were called to Poplar Street and Maplewood Avenue around 2 a.m. for a report of a motor vehicle accident.
They found a silver Nissan Pathfinder that had hit a parked truck head-on, according to a release from Bridgeport police. Gardner was inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the torso.
Detectives believe Gardner was shot in the area of 176-178 Poplar St. and drove a short distance before hitting the vehicle.
No motive or suspects have been identified, but detectives are following leads.
