Wintry weather makes all of us think about staying warm.

Even in slippery conditions, home heating oil trucks were still bringing the heat. However, some companies have been losing customers who have converted to natural gas.

The Department Of Energy And Environmental Protection has been promoting the switch, claiming the average household can save about $1800 per year in home heating bills.

“There are more than 150,000 homes in Connecticut that could cut their energy bills, their heating bills in half,” Katie Dykes, DEEP’s Deputy Commissioner Of Energy, said.

Heating oil companies claim the savings, if any, may be short term. Some experts predict gas prices will more than double over the next 20 years.
