WEST HAVEN — Residents fought back against an attempted home invasion early Tuesday, disarming and overpowering one man and stabbing another multiple times before officers arrived, police said.
Officers responded to a home on Myrtle Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on the report of a home invasion. Upon arrival, police said residents of the home were holding down one man who was quickly taken into custody.
Residents of the home told police the two men entered the home, one armed with a black, semi-automatic pistol. That man, identified by police as Roderick Lewis, 25, of West Haven, was overpowered and disarmed before police arrived and arrested him.
Police are searching for the man’s accomplice, who was stabbed multiple times in the head, neck and shoulders with a steak knife by a female who lived at the house before running from the scene.
Police dogs were called in to try to track the second suspect but he could not be located. Police said they have contacted local hospitals in an effort to track him down.
