WESTPORT – An autopsy determined Sunday that a woman whose body was found floating in the Saugatuck River on Friday died of “blunt impact injuries to the head, torso, and extremities” – possibly from a very high fall or being struck by a vehicle, police said.
Westport police detectives sought help from the public Sunday night to determine how Annette L. White, 46, suffered her fatal injuries.
White, a Maine resident, had been living at 35 Owenoke Park in Westport, where she was last seen alive about 4 p.m. on Dec. 26. A duck hunter found her body floating at the mouth of the river about 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 27.
White was 5 feet 6 inches tall, 165 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair. She was wearing black jeans, a red turtleneck shirt, a grey sweater, and a light blue hip-length jacket. Anyone who had contact with her, or who saw a woman matching her description, is asked to call police at 203-341-6000.
Also investigating is the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which completed the autopsy Sunday.
