Want to start the new year off on sweet note? Head to Waterbury. That’s where Fascia’s Chocolates has  relocated to a new factory.

The small, family owned company has been churning out chocolate for nearly 50 years.

“We are a typical small chocolatier. We’re not doing anything really automated. Everything is done by hand,” said Carmen Romeo, one of the owners at Fascia’s.

After a quick class about chocolate and how it’s created in the presentation room, the bar is set high because visitors can make their own chocolate bar.

“That’s really the unique part,” Romeo said, “I don’t know any other place in New England where you are making your own bar.”

Tours last about an hour and run on Saturdays and Sundays. They cost $5 — $10 if you want to make a chocolate bar. Fascia’s is located at 44 Chase River Rd. in Waterbury.
