BARKHAMSTED — A motorcyclist from New Hartford was injured Sunday afternoon after he rear-ended a car driven by a West Hartford man, according to state police.

Christopher Paul Lyon, 52, was transported by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital for a leg fracture and head lacerations.

Edward H. Friedman, 90, of West Hartford was the driver of the other car, a Buick LaCrosse.

According to the state police report, Friedman was traveling eastbound on Rte.44, approaching Old North Road. The report says Friedman moved onto a paved shoulder to go around another vehicle, which had stopped to turn left onto Old North Road. As he did so, Friedman slowed to a near stop, the state police report says.

The state police report says that Lyon was unaware that Friedman had stopped and drove into the rear end of the car.

The accident is under investigation.
