After a wild weather day on Saturday, where some parts of the state saw 10 inches of snow and other parts saw no accumulation, Sunday had some clouds and intervals of sun. Highs were in the 30s with winds between 10 and 15 mph. A strong cold front will move through the state late Monday afternoon and evening with the potential for snow showers and snow squalls.

Arctic air is on the way this week that will put Connecticut in a deep freeze, with several days where highs will struggle to break 20 degrees.

The arctic express will actually push the storm track farther south for the week, sparing Connecticut major snowstorms. A series of storms will roll down the polar jet stream and off the North Carolina coast on Tuesday and again Thursday. But here, cold high pressure will dominate with highs averaging in the teens with lows near zero. Some towns in Litchfield County could go below zero due to the snow cover. Wind chill values could drop below zero during the daytime hours by the middle of the week.
