Seattle vs. Denver, teal and green vs. orange and blue, and as Super Bowl XLVIII approaches, it’s hats off to a Hartford company.

Gima Sport, a 20-year-old company in the south end of Hartford, is one of the manufacturers commissioned to make  Super Bowl caps, and the rush is on.

The machines at Gima’s 20,000-square-foot facility are in constant motion, busy stitching about 3,500 Super Bowl caps with more orders to come. Gima started making the hats shortly after the conference championship games ended on Sunday.

“There is a  sense of pride to be able to sit there and watch a game and say those hats were done right here in Hartford,” said Roberto Giansiracusa, owner of Gima Sport.

The hats sell at a premium price, at least up until kickoff, about $35 apiece. Find out more on Gima Sport’s Facebook page.
