COLEBROOK — A home on Chapin Road was heavily damaged by fire early Tuesday, fire officials said.

The fire, at 16 Chapin Road, was reported around 3 a.m. by a volunteer firefighter who lived a few doors down and saw flames shooting from the home. Fire officials said several nearby towns assisted Colebrook firefighters in battling the blaze, which was under control in about an hour.

Fire officials said nobody was injured in the fire, which they believe started in the back of the home. Firefighters expect to be on scene for several hours checking for hotspots and investigating the cause of the fire.
