GLASTONBURY — St. Paul Roman Catholic Church has suspended an employee of its religious education program after his arrest this month on charges that he had inappropriate contact with a minor.

Stephen Zocco, 24, was charged with risk of injury to a minor on Jan. 17 after police officers found him parked at Glastonbury High School after hours with a 15-year-old girl.

An investigation revealed that inappropriate contact had occurred between Zocco and the girl, police said.

Zocco has been an assistant with the religious education program at St. Paul Church for two years. He has been suspended pending the outcome of the criminal charge, said the Rev. John Golas of St. Paul and St. Augustine parishes.

“The arrest of Stephen Zocco comes as sad and troubling news,” he said.

Zocco is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 10 at Superior Court in Manchester. He is free on $10,000 bond.
