HARTFORD — One person was killed when a car struck a building on Main Street in Hartford early Saturday, police said.

Two others were injured in the crash but are expected to recover, police said.

The vehicle struck a hair salon in the 2000 block of Main Street about 5:48 a.m., police said. The front passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. His name and age were not not known Saturday morning, police said.

The driver was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition, police said. A female passenger in the back seat of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

The building, which has apartments above the hair salon, sustained substantial damage but was deemed livable, police said. Crews were working to restore power and the 2000 block of Main Street was expected to remain closed for a couple of hours.
