Police Identify New Haven Homicide Victim

NEW HAVEN — A 33-year-old city man was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head on Friday night, police said.

Varnouard Hall was found unresponsive on the ground near East Pearl and Pierpont streets about 10 p.m., police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no calls to police reporting gunshots in the area before the victim was found, though two people interviewed by detectives said they heard a gunshot at 9:53 p.m.

Police are investigating the man’s death as a homicide. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call detectives at 203-946-6316.
