VERNON — Police charged a man Sunday morning with burglarizing two Talcottville Road businesses after he was seen fleeing a store into the woods, police said.
Jonatan Garcia-Calzada, 21, is charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal trespass. He was being held on $50,000 bond and is expected to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Monday.
Police said an alert citizen called 9-1-1 at about 7:45 a.m. and reported that she saw a man “coming out of a smashed rear window to the business” and running toward the woods nearby. Officers found Garcia-Calzada hiding in the woods with stolen cash, police said.
Police said the man burglarized Vernon Tailor and Shelly’s Hair Studio, two shops in a plaza at 154 Talcottville Road.
