(CNN) — American bobsledder Johnny Quinn is the Olympics’ version of the Incredible Hulk. Or something like that.

Quinn was in his bathroom in Russia’s Olympic Village in Sochi when the door jammed Saturday.

What’s a former football player to do to free himself? Smash down the door with swift, hard punches. Then take a picture of the ruins and post it on social media.

His neighbors and bobsled teammates did not hear his cries — or rather loud bangs — for help, he said.

“I was sitting there, banging on random parts of the wall, seeing if I could catch someone’s attention,” he said. “And as I’m banging on random parts, going around the bathroom, I kind of hit the door and it cracks. And so I go a little bit harder, and my fist goes through the door.”

The 6-foot, 220-pound sportsman is familiar with speed and quick movements. A former football player for the Green Bay Packers, the 30-year-old also ran track at his alma mater, the University of North Texas in Denton.

But it’s his bobsled push training that came in handy during the break out, he said.

Quinn and his teammates compete February 16.
