Child Killed In Wallingford Crash

WALLINGFORD — A 7-year-old boy was killed in a rollover crash on Route 15 Friday afternoon, according to state police.

The boy, identified by state police as Jay Goodwin Jr., of North Haven, was in the back seat of Jeep Wrangler that rolled over into the center median. He was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries, state police said.

The driver, Jay Goodwin, 38, and front seat passenger, Rachel Coppola, 37, were taken to Yale-New Haven hospital with injuries, state police said. Their conditions were unknown late Friday.

According to state police, the boy was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The vehicle was totaled in the accident, state police said.

The crash closed southbound Route 15 at Route 5 for several hours. The crash was reported about 1:15 p.m. Friday.

The accident is under investigation by state police.
