NORWALK — A Metro-North train struck a van at a Glover Avenue crossing on Saturday, but the van was unoccupied and no one was injured, officials said.

The train sustained minor damage, Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokeswoman Meredith Daniels said, and none of the 40 passengers was hurt.

The driver was not in the van when it was hit around 6:40 p.m., police said. He was not harmed but still requested an ambulance, Daniels said.

The train had left Grand Central Terminal at 5:08 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Danbury at 7:05 p.m. Daniels said passengers were to be taken by bus to Danbury. Buses were also being sent for passengers of the 7:39 p.m. southbound train from Danbury to South Norwalk, she said.

Officials said the van may have been disabled, possibly because of the weather.
