WEST HARTFORD – As part of a push to pass a comprehensive legislative package to help veterans, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal will visit the University of Hartford’s prosthetics and orthotics lab today, one of a dozen in the country that would be eligible to receive grant funding provided by the bill.

“Our nation’s wounded warriors need and deserve the vast benefits from advancing medical technology,” Blumenthal said in a statement. “I’m spearheading a comprehensive measure to support research, innovation, and training in prosthetics and orthotics that will help restore limbs and renew lives.

Blumenthal said the legislation, which is set to go before the Senate next week, would also speed up disability claims, improve access to health care and offer additional training to returning veterans.

Blumenthal’s visit is scheduled for 1 p.m.
