A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for much of the state (not you, New London County shoreline!) with another round of snow set to begin Tuesday morning and tracking through the state during the day. Snow totals range from smaller amounts at the New London county shoreline, to highest amounts in the northwest Litchfield Hills. But in between, there’s enough moderate snow to suggest trouble across the state. Warmer air will surge in late in the storm, allowing a changeover to rain at the shore, which is why the snow totals will be cut down there.

With the storm exiting late Tuesday,  the warmer temperatures will hang around for a while, and for the first time in quite some time, highs reaching the 40s and even up to 50 degrees by the end of the workweek. That means a big thaw is coming, which will finally allow us to dig out a little bit. It’s about time!

Rain comes Friday with the warm air, and slightly cooler temps for the weekend, with colder air returning next week. Sorry, we’re not done with winter just yet, but for me , March 20, the spring equinox, can’t come soon enough.
