Wednesday’s electrocution in South Windsor has been a sad reminder for other trucking companies to reassess safety protocol.

Police said two construction workers died after their dump truck’s raised bed contacted power lines.

Hartford’s Central Auto &  Transport has similar dump trucks as the one in South Windsor.

The company said drivers are constantly trained about safety, including raising awareness about overhead power lines.

If a truck does come in contact with live wires, drivers are instructed to stay put.

“Stay in the vehicle and notify someone that you’re in a potential, hazardous situation and exactly what that situation is,” Angelo Ortisi, Vice President of Central Auto & Transport, said.

If the live wires spark a fire and the driver has to get out of the truck, they’re instructed to jump out without touching any part of the vehicle, and then hop away with both feet together and arms close to the body.
