A woman was shot Sunday afternoon in Hartford, and a bullet lodged in her brain.

Police said around 2 p.m. a 30-year-old female was struck in the arm and head in some kind of exchange of gunfire on Adams Street and Albany Avenue.

Dwayne Fuller, a neighbor, said the woman has three children.

“She’s a nice person, a very nice person. I don’t think she’s a violent person. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Fuller.

Many said that shootings are not uncommon around that area, but they don’t expect them this time of year.

“I’m surprised. It usually happens during the summertime when it’s very hot,” Fuller said.

“I don’t know why it’s happening now, but it wasn’t happening when the snow was on the ground,” said Willie McCleadon, another neighbor.

Folks said if these types of crimes are happening during the winter, they’re worried what kind of violence will erupt during the summer months.

The woman is at St. Francis Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Major Crimes is investigating, and police haven’t said whether they have anyone in custody.
