HARTFORD — City police responded to a stabbing, a shooting and a report of shots fired Tuesday night.

At 8:24 p.m. police were called to the area of 149 Bedford St. and found a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back. Police said the man was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Minutes later, at 8:26 p.m., police responded to a stabbing at 45 Barber St. A victim there suffered injuries to the face and head after being attacked with a butcher knife during a fight, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

In a third separate incident around 11:30 p.m., a driver stopped by police near St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center said his car had been shot near the intersection of Greenfield and Garden streets. Police said the driver was not injured and did not know who shot at him.

No arrests have been made and all three incidents are under investigation, police said.

The area around Garden and Capen Street has seen an increase in gunfire in recent weeks, police said.

More than 20 shots fired incidents have been detected in the area by Shotspotter since the beginning of the year, Deputy Chief Brian Foley said.
