STRATFORD — Police arrested a 38-year-old man from Stamford who is suspected of dousing his family’s home on Unity Drive with gasoline and threatening to set it on fire to stop them from selling it.

Jason Raveis, 38, of Selleck Street, was charged on Tuesday with first-degree attempted arson, threatening, breach of peace and first-degree reckless endangerment.

He posted a $50,000 bond and was released from custody.

The incident took place Aug. 8, 2012. Raveis’ sister called police to report that her brother was threatening to burn the house down, police said.

Raveis fled as officers arrived. Responding officers smelled gasoline and discovered that gasoline had been poured around the house, inside the kitchen and the garage, police said.

Raveis’ sister told police that Raveis became upset when the family put the house on the market. He threatened to burn it down before they could sell it.
