Rain will begin Wednesday afternoon, and as temperatures drop, could change over to snow by Thursday morning.

A storm will move to the state this afternoon and evening, bringing a quick inch or so of rain. There’s a chance for some lightning and thunder to accompany the rain as it intensifies during the evening.

Cold air will move back for Thursday, with highs dropping down into the 20s, quite a change from Tuesday’s weather in the 50s and 60s. A winter weather advisory has been issued for Connecticut’s four northern counties as a coating to an inch or two of snow is expected and could make morning travel difficult on Thursday.

Friday will be sunny and cooler with highs in the 30s to near 40. The weekend looks a bit more seasonable with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the 40s.
