DANBURY — A 33-year-old man is in custody after allegedly shooting another man Thursday evening, police said.

Eliseo Soto, of Danbury, faces charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault and criminal use of a firearm, police said. His bail was set at $500,000.

Police were called about 5:42 p.m. to Rose Street and Bells Lane for a report of a shooting, according to a release from Danbury Police.

A 24-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound through the arm and chest. He was brought to Danbury Hospital, where he is in critical condition, the release states.

Witnesses told police that Soto had caused a disturbance in the area earlier in the night before returning and shooting the victim, the release states.

Police found Soto at his residence and arrested him.
