HEBRON — A teacher at RHAM Middle School who was seriously injured when she was struck by parent’s vehicle in front of the school two weeks ago has died, her family said in a message posted online Friday.

Dawn Mallory, 65, taught seventh- and eighth-grade math at the middle school.

“After a valiant struggle, Mom has succumbed to her injuries,” Mallory’s family said in an update posted to a fundraising website created after the accident. “Your unwavering prayers and overwhelming support has helped us throughout this most difficult time. Our deepest thanks to you all.”

Mallory was walking to the middle school on March 14 when she was hit by the car of a parent who was trying to back out of the bus drop-off area, state police said. The parent had dropped off students at the high school and was trying to leave, but ended up in the middle school bus area.

State police were investigating the crash.

“I know that all of our thoughts and prayers are with Dawn’s family at this time,” school Principal Michael Seroussi said in an email Friday night. Seroussi said he’s sure the school will have a memorial for Mallory at some point. “Obviously we are all still in shock over the news,” he said.

Counselors will be available for students and staff at RHAM on Monday, Seroussi said. Funeral arrangements have not yet been determined.
