As part of World Autism Awareness Day, legislators, autism advocacy groups and families are hosting an event at the state capitol aimed at drawing attention to autism spectrum disorders. One out of 42 boys and one out of 189 girls are diagnosed with autism in the United States, according to Autism Speaks. In addition, some of the country’s most recognizable landmarks – including Hartford’s Aetna Building – will be illuminated blue to bring attention to the cause.
