WALLINGFORD — A 26-year-old New York man suspected in a credit card scam was arrested this week, police said.

Luc Beaubrun, of Brooklyn, faces 302 fraud-related charges, including second-degree larceny by ongoing scheme, identity theft and forgery.

More arrests are expected.

Beaubrun was arrested Monday by warrant after an investigation that began March 13. Police were called to Wal-Mart on North Colony Road where Beaubrun was buying gift cards with other gift cards, police said.

“This type of activity is often associated with fraudulent credit card use, and is a scam involving the use of reproduced credit cards that are either embossed or encoded with stolen credit or debit account numbers,” police said.

The reproduced cards are then used to buy legitimate gift cards in order to transfer money from stolen accounts to non traceable gift cards, police said.
