It was supposed to be a day of celebration, the morning of the junior prom, but outside Jonathan Law High School, you could tell something was terribly wrong.

“It’s crazy, I never thought it would happen in Milford,” said senior Cody Chizmadia.

A normal spring Friday turned tragic just after 7 a.m. – a popular honor student, Maren Sanchez, was stabbed to death. While police and staff besieged the first floor hallway area where it happened, students shared their stories of a harrowing morning.

“I was in that hallway this morning and saw her under the stairs with a trail of blood,” said junior Sean Chesler. “I didn’t know what happened.”

As police continue their investigation students are looking for answers about something so senseless. Maren’s classmate Skye Gero said they were speaking just yesterday.

“Dramatic, it’s been really bad, it’s upsetting,” she said. “It’s upsetting, I used to talk with her, I talked with her yesterday.”

With the Newtown tragedy in many minds, sophomore John Hart says things were for orderly, for the most part. Tonight, students planned on a big party, but there is only grief on the high school grounds and throughout Milford.
