Hundreds of high school kids got some hands-on training in Durham that might help them figure out what to do after graduation.
The third annual construction Pro Rodeo allows the students to try a trade, including piping, soldering and excavating. One of the biggest thrills is working the big excavators. Although there is no guarantee getting a job out of college, there are plenty of construction jobs available.
“Most kids that don’t want to go to college, most kids that can’t afford college, can go to a trade school and three or four years after they start there, graduate, they’re going to have a job straight out,” Sean Davidson, a Morgan High School senior said.
The construction rodeo continues Thursday, which will culminate with a BBQ and excavator competitions.
