MILFORD — A pedestrian was struck and killed on I-95 southbound late Saturday, police said.
Police said the Cadillac Escalade Emmanuel Felix was traveling in stopped in the right lane of the highway south of Exit 34 on the Moses Wheeler Bridge to repair a flat tire. A second vehicle pulled up behind the Escalade to help the disabled motorists.
Around 10:37 p.m. a Honda Accord approached the scene in the right lane, police said. The driver moved over to the center lane before losing control of the vehicle, traveling back into the right lane and striking two pedestrians who had been occupants of the Escalade.
Police said Felix was thrown from the roadway and suffered fatal injuries. The second pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital. The driver of the Accord and two other occupants of the Escalade were also taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed, police said.
