BRIDGEPORT — A 35-year-old man was found shot on Fourth Street early Sunday, police said.

Officers working in the area of Stratford Avenue and Fourth Street heard a gunshot around 2:10 a.m., police said. Officers responded to Fourth Street and found Gerard Davis suffering from a single gunshot wound to the hip.

Davis told police he was walking to his car after leaving a nearby nightclub when he was shot and he did not see who shot him. But police said a witness saw Davis involved in a fight on the ground with another man when a third man walked up to the pair and fired the shot.

Davis was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 203-581-5229.
