Hamden police say the suspect in yesterday’s robbery and carjacking is not only dangerous but also armed. As of now, police are asking anyone with more information to call them.

This is a picture of the suspect from Shop Rite surveillance. Police say he is about 6 feet tall with a husky build. He’s a white man, probably in this 40s, with black and grey hair.

Here’s what happened last night: The man left the Shop Rite store with about $250 worth of merchandise. Store security tried to detain him but he got away on foot and headed toward Dixwell Avenue. There he forced his way into a car that a 17-year-old was driving. He told the teen he had a gun and he would use it if he didn’t drive. They ended up at a parking lot on Dixwell Avenue about a half a mile from the Shop Rite. The man got away.
