Fire officials: Bounce castle rolls hundreds of ft. with 2 kids inside

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Fire crews responded to a park in Jefferson County Saturday afternoon after receiving reports that a bounce castle had been carried hundreds of feet by a gust of wind with two children still inside.

The incident occurred at the Robert A. Easton Park on W. Coal Mine Avenue in Jefferson County during a lacrosse tournament, according to the West Metro Fire Protection District.

A fire official told FOX31 Denver the bounce castle had unattached from the fan that pumps it up. It started to deflate, when a strong gust of wind struck it and blew it 200 to 300 feet rolling along the grounds.

Two juveniles were inside the structure at the time, the fire official added.

One child was transported to a nearby urgent care clinic. The other was checked out on scene and released.

The incident is under investigation.

This is not the first time a bounce castle has gotten overtaken by wind while children were still inside.

Earlier in May, a bouncy house in South Glenn Falls, New York was lifted 50 feet into the air with three children in the structure. Two young boys sustained serious injuries and the girl incurred minor cuts and bruises.
