High pressure that was responsible for the spectacular Sunday will continue to dominate our weather with sunshine and warmer temperatures Monday into Tuesday.

The high will be slowly moving south, off the mid-Atlantic shoreline. Connecticut will be on the warm side of the high as a southwest flow will transport a warmer, humid air mass into Connecticut during the next couple of days.

By Tuesday evening a slow moving cold front will reach central New York State with showers and thunderstorms well ahead of the system.  The showers and storms could enter western Connecticut as early as Tuesday evening and continue into early Wednesday.

The slow moving cold front will stall just south of New England on Wednesday, when the showers and thunderstorms may briefly come to an end.  Another area of low pressure will ride along the cold front with another area of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday before high pressure builds into the Northeast by Friday and next weekend with cooler and drier air.

Monday: Mostly sunny, warmer, still pleasant.  High: 80-85, 70s along the shoreline.

Tuesday: Partly to mostly cloudy, warm, turning more humid, chance for late day showers and thunderstorms.  High: 80-85.

Wednesday: Showers ending, partly to mostly cloudy, cooler. High: 70s.

Thursday:  Mostly cloudy with more showers.  High: 75-80.

Friday:  Chance for a shower, otherwise partly sunny.  High: mid-upper 70s.
