‘HARTFORD — Trustees of the University of Connecticut on Tuesday approved final development agreements for a new regional campus in downtown Hartford. Construction is expected to begin in about a year.
The project is now estimated to cost $115 million, said Lawrence D. McHugh, chairman of the Board of Trustees. That’s considerably more than the $70 million projection from last fall, though McHugh said that figure was only an early estimate.
The agreements cap an 18-month effort to relocate UConn’s West Hartford campus to the city and solidify the university’s plans to establish the campus at the former Hartford Times property on Prospect Street.
