Southington And Amity Win Semi-Finals To Face Off In CIAC Class LL Baseball Final

Muzzy Field in Bristol was the site Tuesday for the CIAC Class LL semi finals. First game of the day number three seeded Southington Blue Knights come in to the semifinal with a record of 17-3.
Look for one more win against the 12-8 Mustangs from Fairfield Warde.
Top of the third two outs tied 1-1. When Mustang Giacomo Brancato bounces the hit to the second baseman who turns and throws but just not in time but time enough for Thomas Luckner to hustle home and give Warde the lead 2-1.
Now bottom of the fifth Mustangs lead 4-3. Till Brett Shaw with the hard hit ball to left field brings home the tying run. They would then take the lead on bases loaded walk.
Now bottom of the sixth Ryan DeAngelo sends a blast deep to right. The wall is just tall enough to contain it but that lets Joseph Rivera come home. That ends up being your game winner as Southington moves on to the final with the 6-5 win.

Second game of the night would decide who faced Southington and that was between the Trojans of Simsbury.
And the defending Class LL champs Spartans of Amity.
Top of the fourth Spartans lead 1-0. On the hard hit grounder Trojan John LaVigne starts the six-four-three double play to end the top of the inning.
Then in the bottom of the inning Spartans flash the leather. This time its Christopher Winkel starts the three-six-one double play to end the inning and cling to the one run lead.
Same score top of the seventh. When Devin Belenski rips a shot back at the mound that gets in to the outfield. That brings Kyle Mattei home and Amity leads 2-0.
They actually take a 3-0 lead to the bottom of the seventh where Simsbury with two outs have the bases loaded. Sebastian DiMauro in relief gets the Simsbury batter swinging and Amity wins 3-0 and gets the return trip to the finals.
