A Wallingford woman was arrested, Tuesday, for hiring an informant to brutally assault her ex-husband, police said. 59-year-old Cynthia Hannon faces charges of criminal attempt to assault and conspiracy to assault.
According to court documents, Hannon, a former Corrections officer, hired an ex-inmate to do lawn work at her King Road home. In early June, Hannon offered the man $2,500 to beat up her ex-husband, Thomas Hannon, the documents said.
The man informed Wallingford police of the plan. Police then recorded a conversation between the informant and Hannon where she asked him to break her ex’s “jaw, ribs, and nose,” and hit him with “brass knuckles in the face and mouth,” the documents continued.
Court documents also revealed a history of complaints by Hannon against her ex-husband. According to police records, police had dealt with the couple 6 times. In one instance, Thomas Hannon was arrested after an argument between the two, court documents said.
Friends and neighbors of Hannon were surprised by the charges, Wednesday. The described her as sweet and generous.
“Cynthia is a really great person. She’ll do anything for anybody,” Patricia Hinkley said.
Hannon is being held on $100,000 bond.
