A home at Belle Vista Heights was destroyed today by a fire.

Home owner smelled smoke, and then saw fire on the outside of the home. He called the fire in around 2 p.m.

The homeowner and one other person escaped the house unharmed.

Around 40 to 50 firefighters from fire departments from Portland, Glastonbury, Westfield, and Middletown responded.

Wind was a factor that lead to the fire engulfing the home, and source of the fire appeared be from the left side.

The cause still under investigation.
