WALLINGFORD — Police have charged a local woman with trying to hire someone to attack and seriously assault her ex-husband.

Police said Cynthia Hannon, 59, of King Road was charged Tuesday night with attempted first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault.

Police said the charges are a result of an undercover investigation during which Hannon plotted with a police informant “to viciously assault and hospitalize her ex-husband for the sum of $2,500.”

Police said Hannon provided the information with detailed information on her ex-husband, his daily routine and a photograph of him. She paid some of the money upfront, police said, with the balance to be paid after the assault.

She was taken into custody Tuesday evening without incident and held on $100,000 bail for arraignment Wednesday in Superior Court in Meriden.
