Yesterday 36 sheet metal workers packaged 10,000 meals for needy children.
The United Labor Agency and Feeding Hungry Children arrived at the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union 40 to package meals on three assembly lines. The meals consisted of rice, lentils, vegetables and Himalayan salt. Each ingredient was individually packaged in a plastic bag, weighted, and heat sealed for preservation.
Most of the meals were made for children who only get meals while at school to help feed them on nights, weekends, and vacations. the majority of meals will go to children in Waterbury, Hartford and New Britain.
