UPDATE: Eric Morelli posted bond and will appear in Bristol court on July 7

According to police, the cause of the fire that killed 19-year-old Kristen Milano is still under investigation, but neighbors believe Eric Morelli started the deadly blaze by throwing fireworks into the window.

Morelli was charged late Tuesday afternoon with first degree manslaughter and three counts of first degree reckless endangerment. Police have sealed the arrest warrant and any further details of the charges are not available.

Neighbors have said they heard popping noises at the time of the fire at around 4:30 a.m. Milano died from smoke inhalation and the death was ruled a homicide. Those who know both teen say it’s all shocking.

In a statement from the attorney representing Eric Morelli, it says Eric and his family are sorry especially since Eric and Kristen were longtime friends.

Eric never intended to harm anyone and he’s fully cooperative and will respond to the charges in court. Morelli is being held on $150,000 bond and is expected in court later today.
