A four-vehicle crash on Route 9 South in Middletown on Saturday afternoon backed up traffic for miles.
The crash occurred around 2:50 p.m. between exits 16 and 15, near Washington Street and Dekoven Drive, and left the right and center lanes closed until about 3:45 p.m.. Traffic was backed up to Route 372 in Cromwell.
Police and ambulances were on the scene.
