Police ID Pedestrian Killed In Vernon

UPDATE:

Vernon police released the identity of the woman killed Thursday. Kathleen Jasak, 58, of Vernon was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the 2000 Ford Focus was Robert Maly, 66, of Wallingford.

Route 30 in Vernon was closed due to an accident Tuesday morning where a pedestrian was killed.

Vernon police tweeted the accident was fatal.

In a press release, Lt. William Meier said the accident happened at the intersection of Route 30 and East Street. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. He said Route 30 was be closed between Grove St (Route 31) and Kingsbury Avenue but has since reopened.

In a separate accident, Manchester police and fire crews responded to Lydall Street and Vernon Road. Reports from the scene indicate a car crashed into a pole and the accident site has been cleared.The Fire Department said a Honda Civic was traveling at a high rate of speed on Vernon Street and exited the roadway and struck a tree.

SafwaanDalal, 18, was transported to Hartford  Hospital and was in critical condition.
