EAST HARTFORD — A 44-year-old man was shot and killed outside the local VFW post on Main Street Wednesday night after a confrontation with a man in the parking lot, according to police and the victim’s girlfriend.
The killing was the first homicide of 2014 in East Hartford.
The victim was identified as Michael Mikulske, of 1251 Main St., police Sgt. Michael DeMaine said.
Regina Champagne, who said she and Mikulske had dated for about three months, said they lived in an apartment across the street from where the shooting took place. She also said Mikulske grew up inWindsor.
